Fishing in Southwestern BC
Fraser River
The Fraser river, at nearly 1000 miles long, is the largest salmon producing river in the world, boasting huge runs of all five species of Pacific salmon. It is also home to the largest freshwater fish in North America, the 'great' white sturgeon (our very own JAWS). We fish the Fraser just 65 miles east of Vancouver, B.C. where a number of tributaries joining the Fraser offer a wide variety of unique angling opportunities.
Harrison River
While only 5 miles long, this real life angling paradise drains Harrison Lake into the Fraser River. This large body of moving water doesn't have extreme currents or elevation changes, which provide a huge area to fly and spin fish with consistently good water conditions. Summer and fall months typically see a river full of fish that include all five salmon species, steelhead and excellent cutthroat fishing. Sea-run Cutthroat trout are best during the spring and fall, but are available most of the year. Also a great place to find sturgeon lurking around.
